British Cycling's Lead Physiotherapist and Consultant to Team Sky joins the team

Phil Burt joins Cyclefit

Phil Burt – British Cycling’s lead physiotherapist and consultant to Team Sky, has joined the Cyclefit team as Consultant Medical Director.

Burt has collaborated with Cyclefit for the last eight years starting with his appearance at an SICI Fit School and then as a favourite speaker at Cyclefit’s ICS Symposiums.

As Consultant Medical Director, Burt will influence and oversee every aspect of the company’s fitting and physiotherapy methodology. He will be based out of Cyclefit’s Manchester Store and will be available for client Cyclefit sessions.

Cyclefit now has a 11-strong fully trained team, comprising four physios and two sports scientists.

Cyclefit founders Julian Wall and Phil Cavell said: “Phil attended one of our first SICI bike-fitting classes that we ran way back in 2007. He was awarded a bursary from UK Sport for his excellence in sports medicine and it was his decision to use it to deepen his education around fitting for use with World Performance riders. What was immediately clear from the first morning’s classes, was that Phil bought a level of clinical experience and intelligence to our subject that was truly exciting – to this day we are not entirely sure who was teaching who!”

Phil Burt added: "There really will be nothing like it in the world. Both partners have dedicated themselves to the emerging science and study of the human-to-bike interaction. Thus far my journey has been all about the collective collaboration behind Olympic medals and Tour de France victories. I am hugely excited about helping make everyone faster, more efficient and more comfortable on their bikes – the ultimate cycling democracy."
