PG and Bugatti make ‘lightest urban bike in the world’

Ravensburg-based luxury bicycle crafter PG has expanded its programme to include a special new product.

As new licence partner of the supercar maker Bugatti, PG is building a high-tech bike called the PG Bugatti Bike. The new product weighs less that five kilograms, which makes it one of the lightest urban bikes in the world.

Production has already begun on the limited-edition bike, which is limited to a run of just 667 pieces.

“We had the vision of building the ultimate bicycle to go with the ultimate car; ultimate in design, workmanship and performance,” said CEO of PG Manuel Ostner. “That is why we are very happy that Bugatti supports this vision, and we are proud to be able to use the name of this extraordinary brand for our product.”

“We liked PG’s idea of building a bicycle in the spirit of our company founder, Ettore Bugatti, who also designed a bike,” added director of design at Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S Achim Anscheidt. “The goal of developing a high-tech product using the newest and finest materials for lightweight construction which, on top of that, was to bear our brand DNA, convinced us to develop the bike’s design together with PG and to suggest formal ideas.”

Etienne Salomé and his team drew their stylistic inspiration for the design from Ettore’s original bike. In addition the selection of materials such as carbon, titanium and aluminium are oriented to the standard of a modern Bugatti supercar.

The standard PG Bugatti bike is 95 per cent carbon and, weighing less than five kilogrammes, is the world’s lightest urban bike.

The Bugatti bikes are completed, refined and customised according to the customer’s wishes by hand in the PG Bugatti showroom in Weinstadt. Bugatti customers can adapt their bicycle’s style to match their Bugatti supercar.
