Pedal Me launches crowdfunder

Pedal Me has launched a crowdfunder with a target of £150,000.

The pedal-powered taxi and courier service has been in operation for 18 months in central London, using specially adapted e-assist cargo bikes to transport people around the city.

To keep up with its current organic growth of 24 per cent CMGR, it has said it needs more bikes, smarter technology and more riders.

The crowdfunder page said: "In London, there are 400,000 taxi and private hire vehicle trips per day on average (TfL), worth about £1.46 billion per year (assuming low-end estimate average of £10/trip).

"Alongside this, 14 per cent of all vehicle miles travelled in London are by LGVs.

"We combine competitive pricing, shorter journey times and a cleaner alternative to taxi and logistics services in London to compete for this market, using highly trained staff and specially designed e-assist cargo bikes.

"We can carry two adults or pretty much any load that doesn’t need a forklift truck (and some that do), all booked via our app."

It added its vision is for 30 plus bikes in London, providing less than eight minute pickup times within a radius of three miles from the centre, as well as additional tech that supports ‘stacking’ or pooling of delivery jobs, driving higher efficiencies by linking jobs up.
