Pashley teams with HandleBards to celebrate Shakespeare’s legacy

Stratford-upon-Avon-set Pashley Cycles, England’s longest established cycle maker, is getting involved with the celebration of Shakespeare’s legacy in 2016 by working with the HandleBards troupe.

Pashley is providing bicycles to the fully ‘bike-powered’ company, touring nationally and internationally using only their cycles to tow or carry everything needed for each performance.

Each of The HandleBards troupe is being equipped with a Pashley “Pathfinder” bicycle, to assist them in bringing Shakespeare to a wider audience.

Pashley’s MD Adrian Williams said: “We went to see The HandleBards last summer and were captivated by their energetic performance. We greatly admired their spirited and sustainable approach and were keen to help. As good luck would have it they needed some good quality bikes to take them to all corners of the world, so our production team set to work and we delivered the bikes just in time for their first performance. We wish The HandleBards every success.”

Both the HandleBards’ girls and boys troupes will be using the Pashley bikes.

Pashley and the HandleBards aren’t the only companies combining bikes with Shakespeare this year, with the likes of Wheel2Wheel Holidays – a leisure cycling tour operator – running an eight day cycle tour to Copenhagen and Zealand, Denmark trip which can be amended to include a trip to Hamlet’s Castle in Elsinore (in remote Denmark).
