Parris ‘decapitate cyclists’ article most complained about, say PCC

The PCC’s annual review has confirmed that an article by Times Online writer Matthew Parris was the single most complained about in 2008.

Parris later apologised for the article – titled: What’s smug and deserves to be decapitated – which drew 584 complaints.

The Commission decided that Parris had not breached the Code of Practice, although states on its website: "We’re pleased that Mr Parris had apologised for his comments."

The story also recieved 257 (mostly negative) comments on the Times Online website.
