Inaugural Parkour Ride, where road cyclists, mountain bikers and BMXers will compete against each other, will take place in October

Parkour takes to two wheels in new event

Cycling events company FACE Partnership, organiser of Revolution Series and the London Nocturne, has partnered with BMX World Champ Liam Phillips to launch Parkour Ride.

Phillips will race the inaugural Parkour Ride in London on Saturday October 4th, staged in a specially designed multi-storey car park circuit in Tobacco Dock in Wapping. Phillips will line up against rivals from the worlds of road cycling, mountain biking and BMX.

“Parkour Ride will be a multi-discipline head-to-head elimination race," explained FACE Partnership MD James Pope.

"Our vision is to create an urban race where amateurs race against pros, men race against women, BMX against mountain bikes and road bikes – all on the same circuit.

“We’ve been working closely with Liam on the format and the circuit layout. His input has been invaluable as we’ve developed the concept over the past year.”

Phillips added: “Parkour Ride is a hugely innovative concept and I feel honoured to be a part of the team. From the location to the dynamics of the circuit it’ll be such a great experience for all taking part.

“Parkour Ride will engage riders across numerous disciplines, but the course is designed in such a way to ensure the playing field is levelled, and riders will need a strategy to get that extra edge. I’ve tested the circuit in London, and it promises to be a thrilling ride.”

Parkour Ride won’t be just about bike racing: FACE Partnership will transform the venue into an interactive event space, it said. “We are aiming to design each level differently and work with partners to create an audio visual experience,” said Pope. “We’ll use music, video and other technology to enhance the event production for riders and fans."
