Council subsidise sessions, which will cost just £5

Oxford Council partners Broken Spoke Co-op for adult cycle training

Oxford City Council has partnered with the Broken Spoke Bike Co-op to offer subsidised cydle training to adults.

Costing just £5, the one or two hour long sessions are based on BikeAbility courses, with the basics covered by level one courses and cycling safely and effectively on the road tackled by level two and three modules. The one-on-one sessions would normally cost £35 per hour.

Councillor Colin Cook said of the initiative: "The subsidised on-road cycle training is part of the wider Oxford Cycle City initiative being led by the City Council which aims to increase cycling and improve the cycling experience in Oxford.

"There are lots of cyclists in Oxford but it can be a bit daunting to cycle on the roads, so this training will help boost people’s confidence.

"I am pleased that we are working with Broken Spoke to provide further training for local people to encourage them out on their bikes in 2014."
