Flying Scotsman to cycle the Knockhill Racing Circuit as part of drive to encourage cyclists to sign up to 2013 event

Obree to launch Enable Scotland Cycle the World campaign

Graeme Obree is to launch the 2013 Enable Scotland Cycle The World campaign with a circuit of the Knockhill Racing Circuit.

Tkaing place on August 30th, the 2013 event will see solo cyclists and teams racing day and night around the Le Mans style 1.3-mile circuit and Enable Scotland aims to smash the previous record of 5,385 miles cycled and £24,000 raised for the charity.

Peter Scott, Enable Scotland CEO said: “I am delighted to see the return of Cycle the World after its incredible success last year. It is fantastic that one of Scotland’s most celebrated cyclists, Graeme Obree, will be getting the campaign off to an excellent start on Sunday. I would encourage everyone to join in on this fun and fantastic event.’’

Graeme added: “The history of Cycling is populated with extreme challenges, events like the Tour de France had stages that were of epic proportions. Hopefully Scotland’s cyclists will rise to the challenge of Cycle the World and support this brilliant event raising lots for Enable Scotland in the process. There will be 6, 12 and 24-hour challenges at this year’s event, which will be held again at Knockhill Race Course. I will lend whatever support I can and will be there to cheer the riders on and hopefully we will see a growth in participation in this extreme, but extremely worthwhile, event.”

Participants can register for the event via Riders pay a registration fee and pledge to raise sponsorship for Enable Scotland.
