North Devon’s Highbullen Hotel has announced a cycling package for those looking for a staycation this summer.
Tapping in to the demand for outdoor pursuits, the country club has developed a package that will see guests enjoy guided cycle routes (if desired), a free bike clean on return, two rounds of golf, and even a packed lunch.
Surrounded by some of the best cycling routes in the scenic south west, Highbullen has the Coast to Coast route, the Devon stage of the Tour of Britain and Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks right on its doorstep.
Explaining why the hotel is looking to draw in holidaying cyclists, James Hemming, GM of Highbullen, said: “Following the high profile success of Team GB in London 2012 and the big personalities found in the likes of Chris Hoy, Victoria Pembleton and Bradley Wiggins, the legacy since has seen many more cyclists hit the roads and demand for bike-based holidays are definitely on the up. With all that North Devon has to offer, it makes sense for us to accommodate – with the luxurious twist that we are known for here at Highbullen.”
‘Bicycle butlers’ are at hand to offer advice on tailored routes and clean bikes after a day out. Knowing the appetite that a long cycle will work up, the package includes a tasty, carb-fuelled breakfast and a three-course dinner in the fine dining Devon View Restaurant. What’s more, guests will be packed a lunch ahead of their ride from the very kitchen that has inspired Delia Smith recipes in the past.
Available from £399 for two people, the package includes:
• Two night’s accommodation
• Dinner each night in the Devon View Restaurant
• A hearty Devon breakfast each morning
• Cycle routes
• Cycle clean
• Packed lunch for two people on one of the days
• Two rounds of golf
• A £10 lunch voucher for lunch on the estate
For those that want to bring their dogs, Highbullen can arrange dog-friendly accommodation and a bicycle carriage on selected routes.
