Beg Bicycles joins the retro revolution; Pics of new bikes and accessories

New sit-up-and-beg bike brand launches

A new hand-built bike brand has entered the sit up and beg market, named Beg Bicycles.

Based in Cambridge with Belgian-made bikes, Beg cycles have been designed for elegance and style and feature sweeping chrome handlebars, steel frame, a classic Brooks leather saddle and leather handle grips. All Beg Bicycles feature a built-in hub-powered dynamo light system, with integrated hub gears and roller brakes.

Beg Bicylces are available in a retro colour palette; Persephone Pink, Toad Grey and Flirty 30s Green.

The brand also sports accessories including willow baskets made in Somerset and old school battered, laptop sized Beg satchels. The range also features lambswool picnic rugs with leather carrying straps, woven in Ireland, that clip onto the back of the saddle. Co-ordinating tan leather cool boxes and water bottles, and robust delivery wooden crates that sit on front racks complete the accessory line-up.

The firm has told BikeBiz that Beg products are being sold direct to customers through its own e-commerce site, but is interested in talking to high-end boutique bike shops, with a wholesale structure in place.

Beg is a small family company. The brand has appeared at the Country Living Spring Fair in Islington in March and has featured on three of the The Times 50 World’s Best Design Blogs.
