NEW PRODUCTS: Giro footwear

Giro’s footwear range, announced at last month’s Eurobike, is set to include seven models, set for shipping from early February 2011.

The initial seven are just the start for the Giro footwear line-up, with further models in the pipeline.

The shoes include a SuperNatural footbed fit kit, supporting rider’s feet to assist in effectively transferring power to the pedal. Arch support is key to this, according to Giro – unsupported arches increase fatigue and discomfort, while also decreasing power.

Todd Carver and Retul (bike fitter for the Sky, RadioShack, Garmin, HTC-Columbia cycing teams) assisted Giro with the bike fit and biomechanical advice. Carver formed Retul in ’07, wiith innovative fit technology and data-driven process.

Giro also tapped into the compostie knowledge of Easton to design and engineer proven carbon plates.

The new lines were two years in the making and were tested over thousands of miles on road and trails.
