New Glenlivet mountain bike project invites tenders

Campanies have been invited to tender for the design and construction of two new mountain bike trails on the picturesque Glenlivet Estate in Moray, Scotland.

Tender for the £350,000 contract closes on April 27th, 2012. It is hoped a suitable contractor with previous experience of designing and building MTB trails will be appointed by May 2012, with work commencing to finalise the micro trail design as soon as possible.

The trails will be part of a wider £500,000 project, led by The Crown Estate, including the development of a mountain bike centre as well as the two new MTB trails in the Carn Daimh Forest, near Tomintoul.

The new trails will be cross-country bike trails constructed largely within the commercial forest area and will consist of two routes (10km and 19km) using a combination of existing forest tracks and a newly built single track.

The Estate said that it hoped that the centre and trails will be completed and open for business by spring 2013. Other facilities included in the wider project include space for a cafe, information area, toilets and car parking.

Funding for the project is being provided by The Crown Estate, the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Cairngorms National Park Authority and Moray Council.

There’s detailing information on the tender on the Glenlivet Estate website.
