'Feather light' ride launched at last month's Taipei Cycle Show

NeilPryde launches BURAsl road bike

NeilPryde has launched what it calls a ‘no compromise feather-light’ road bike that promises to retain the performance benefits of a rigid frame.

Launched at Taipei Cycle 2012, the firm said that after testing various lightweight frames in the market, it became apparent that key performance indicators – such as bottom bracket and headtube stiffness – were often compromised in the pursuit of minimal weight.

The firm said: "Utilising our extensive knowledge of composites developed over two and half decades manufacturing high-performance equipment from carbon fibre, we set about looking for a better way to make a pure engineered solution, where compromise was not an option. The result is the BURAsl – a highly engineered, pure climbing, road bike."

The thin seatstays absorb road vibration, while the deep section chainstays that ensures maximum power transfer, the BURAsl is designed for performance first where minimal weight is the outcome of focused engineering.

The brand’s Optimised Tube Profile (OTP) design philosophy has been applied throughout the frame, while reinforcement “ribs” have been integrated into key locations of the frame to produce a lively and responsive ride.

NeilPryde operates a dealer-only sales model. There are more details at www.neilprydebikes.com
