Prime Minister David Cameron has shuffled his cabinet making John Hayes the new transport secretary. Hayes is the MP for South Holland and the Deepings in Lincolnshire. He has previously been secretary of the All Party Group on brain injury.

Talking to his local newspaper earlier this year, Hayes said:

“This government has put more resources into cycling than any of its predecessors and this Prime Minister is one of the few in modern times who is a regular cyclist … [Cycling] needs a holistic approach … with the agencies and authorities working together."

Claire Perry has been appointed an under secretary at the DfT (on his twitter announcement, David Cameron missed out the "i" from her first name). She has been an MP since the 2010 general election.

"I am so looking forward to being part of the DfT team rebuilding Britain’s infrastructure," she tweeted this lunchtime. On her twitter profile she lists cycling as one of her three loves in life.
