Mini Cooper launches cycle division

The family behind the iconic UK engineered Cooper Car Company has announced plans to launch an own-brand bicycle range.

50 years on from the company’s first F1 World Championship win, the firm has set about manufacturing a sub £300 fixed gear model, with further plans to expand beyond just singlespeeds.

Company MD, Mike Cooper told BikeBiz: "The Cooper Car company has always had a passion for bicycles and we have been thinking about diversifying the business for a while. We wanted to turn our engineering know-how to making a bicycle that offers both simplicity and the best value for money."

The first model has been dubbed the T100 single speed street bicycle and at present, the company plans to sell via its website only.

Each bike will feature the classic Cooper badge. Customers will be able to build their own bike on the website by choosing the frame size, colour, seat, rims and handle-bars.

As well as the special edition classic Cooper Racing Green, frames will come in metallic blue, silver, gloss black or white. Each frame will be numbered and each bike will be issued with a card that details the purchase and allows customers services to log any queries or problems.

Priced from £299, the bikes will be delivered to customers within three days of order.
