T-shirts, sportive and MTB ride in place to raise cash to support Bonney

Michael Bonney fundraisers lined up for 2013

Orange Mountain Bikes’ Michael Bonney suffered a life changing injury in March at the Eden Valley Sportive. As a result, Bonney will require in the region of £100,000 every year for his care. In the long-term a Michael Bonney Trust Fund is being set up and in the short-term there are a number of fundraising initiatives in progress.

At IndieGoGo – a fundraising site where people can also purchase items – Ride For Michael T-Shirts and Wristbands are on sale now. The dedicated page has been set up on the site by John Chennells from Orange and went live earlier this month.

Next is the ‘Ride for Michael Sportive’. The sportive where Bonney was injured was run by Epic Events which is now going to run an event, starting in Penrith at the end of September, with proceeds going to the Trust. More details here.

Another fundraiser will see a ride in Northern Ireland, taking place on Saturday July 6th. Riders from the industry – including Geoff McComb and three others from CRC as well as Stu Thomson from Cut Media – will ride a total of 68km offroad over the four main trails in Northern Ireland.

  • Starting at 6am in Davagh for 16k of Red Trails
  • Drive to Rostrevor for at 27k of Red trails
  • On to Castlewellan for 19km of Red Trails
  • Finishing up at Barnetts in Belfast.

We’ll have more details of the NI ride as we get them.
