The latest MET Parachute convertible full-face helmet, the MCR 2 has launched today. Met says it offers full-face confidence for the gnarliest lines when consequences are high, with the freedom to transform into an open-face helmet at the click of its magnetic release system for long pedal-ups or less rowdy days out. 100 grams lighter and 25% more ventilated than the previous generation, it stays comfortable when the day turns long.
NTA 8776 certification brings enhanced impact protection that surpasses standard MTB requirements, making it fully at home in the dirt – whether analogue or e-MTB. A redesigned ergonomic fit and updated release system make switching easier than ever, even with gloves on.
SAFETY IS SCIENCE
The new Parachute MCR 2 is built around “Safety is Science”, an approach that starts in Met’s own lab, where the brand conducted and analysed 823 impacts during development. It’s NTA 8776 certified for higher impact velocities than standard MTB protection: +21% impact tested speed, +43% dissipation energy and +10% certified coverage.
It’s also ASTM certified and features Mips® Air Node Pro. The new construction is engineered to reduce the chance of concussion at both high and low speeds. Met is currently waiting for official data from the Virginia Tech Lab. In house testing has already shown great results.
MAGNETIC CHINGUARD RELEASE
MET’s proprietary MCR system has been redesigned for improved ergonomics with gloves. Allows easier conversion from full-face protection to open-face ventilation.
VENTILATION IS PERFORMANCE
Tested in Met’s wind tunnel, Parachute MCR 2 delivers 25% more ventilation than its predecessor thanks to its 24 vents with optimized internal air channelling.
