Melton Mowbray Town Estate is seeking a cycle hire and repair business to serve visitors to its town centre parks, operating from a dedicated building in Wilton Park.
Here are further details from the release:
As part of a major refurbishment and improvement project to the parks, the Town Estate wishes to promote active transport and leisure fitness in Melton Mowbray by making cycling more accessible to residents and visitors.
The charity is inviting new and existing cycle hire businesses to contact them directly before the 15th of February, to express their interest in tendering, book a mutually convenient time to view the premises and location, visit the town, and ask questions.

Melton’s town parks are a focal point for the community for leisure, sport, and recreation. Facilities are already well established and include a refreshment kiosk, cricket club, tennis courts, 5-a-side football pitches and a rowing boat hire business on the River Eye running through the town.
With the region’s gentle gradients and rural surroundings, Melton Mowbray is the perfect base for exploring Leicestershire by bike, and many popular and picturesque cycle routes are posted around the area.
Leicestershire attracts millions of tourists and visitors every year, and here in Melton Mowbray we want to offer them a great place to visit and stay. Bringing a cycle hire business to our park will give residents a new amenity for leisure and fitness, and attract overnight and staying visitors who want to explore the region on two wheels. There is great potential for the right business to grow and thrive here – Melton Mowbray Town Estate CEO, Dean Rees
Applications to tender will close by the 15th of March, the shortlist will be announced by the 25th of March, and the successful supplier will be appointed on the 1st of April, 2025.
