Girona-based Megamo has introduced the latest iteration of its Silk gravel bike with the launch of the MY 26 edition of a bike already a popular part of the brand’s lineup.

As Megamo’s flagship gravel bike – raced at the world’s top gravel events, including The Traka, Unbound, and The Rift, amongst others – the MY26 edition of the Silk sees the introduction of a second-generation frame, with the brand pointing to “key improvements resulting from constant innovation”. Depending on the carbon grade – SL or SLR – the Silk “combines lightness, stiffness, and agility for superior performance in fast gravel.”

SLR frame in focus

The Silk 2026 is shaped around a performance-focused SLR carbon frame that “seeks to combine speed, endurance, and absolute control – ideal for riders demanding maximum performance in competition. At the same time, its intelligent design provides the necessary comfort for long and demanding rides, without compromising efficiency.”

The geometry and SLR carbon construction are further enhanced by a thoroughly modern 45mm tyre clearance, providing greater adaptability, enabling riders to optimise grip, rolling resistance, stability, and control across a variety of riding conditions and terrain.

  • Frame: 940 g
  • Fork: 435 g
  • Handlebar: 414 g
  • Seatpost: 157 g

Maximum flexibility: 1X or 2X options

The Silk 2026 is fully compatible with both 1X and 2X drivetrains, maximising the bike’s versatility and adaptability. Addressing aesthetic and performance points, Megamo points out that in 1X configurations, the front derailleur plate can be easily replaced by a specific chain guide or a cover plate, “ensuring greater transmission security and efficiency”.

“Flexibility” is the word: The Silk 2026 is designed to be adaptable, “for any rider, and any route, from the toughest competitions to long-distance gravel adventures.”

Integrated carbon cockpit design

Developed in collaboration with professional riders, the integrated cockpit of the Silk 2026 is “engineered to provide the perfect balance between lightness, stiffness, and comfort—essential qualities for fast gravel.”

Available in sizes XS to XL, with stem lengths ranging from 70 mm to 110 mm (stem angle 10° ) and handlebar widths from 360 mm to 380 mm, the Silk 2026 cockpit sports a reach of 75 mm and a drop of 125 mm across all sizes, with 8° Flare adds extra stability on technical sections without compromising aerodynamics.

Changes from MY25 TO MY26

  • Optimised geometry: new road-style seatpost entry for improved stiffness and aerodynamics;
  • integrated “Y”-shaped cockpit with Reach 75 mm, Drop 125 mm, Flare 8°, and stem angle of 10°;
  • tire clearance increased to 45 mm.
  • Materials: introduction of SL carbon – lightweight and responsive – as a more accessible option to the high-modulus SLR.
  • Finishes: extended palette with three exclusive SLR colours, plus two additional options for the SL range.

Retail partnerships make a difference

Geometry considerations will need to be made, as with any bike, to ensure the Silk works for the intended application. It’s here that AlsoBikes – the UK representatives for Megamo – have worked to partner with bike shops with the knowledge, experience, and interest in getting riders onto the best bike for them.

Building the Megamo brand in the UK, through an enhanced retail partner network, remains a key focus for the business.
