Mavic wins trademark infringement case against Innobike

MAVIC (belonging to the Amer Sports group) has revealed that it has come out on top in a court case with Innobike, which has has been condemned for trademark infringement by the Court of First Instance of Paris (Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris).

Innobike was alleged to have been commercialising, in France, bicycle wheels under the sign Mavic, even though this company never belonged to the wheel manufacturer’s selective distribution network.

The judges ruled that Mavic’s selective distribution network is lawful since and the court concluded that “by offering for sale, selling and importing bicycle wheels under the name Mavic, Innobike is guilty of infringing the Mavic trademark.

This decision is not final, and is currently appealed.
