Released today, Mavic has launched what it calls its “fastest ever wheel.”
According to the French brand, the Comete is designed for one purpose, to go fast.
The aero-shaped carbon spokes work in seamless tandem with the 50mm rim and 23mm internal width for maximum aero efficiency. Ceramic Bearings, for faster power transfer and superior efficiency, all tested in Mavic’s Geneva Wind Tunnel make this wheel at £2,299 a stand-out choice at this price-point.
Weighing in at just 1315g per pair, the Mavic Comete 50 carbon wheel pushes the limits of lightness without sacrificing stiffness or precision, for a wheel capable of accelerating instantly, holding its line on fast descents, and maintaining a high level of comfort over long distances.
The Comete 50 features all of the technology Mavic are known for. ID360 freehub, 40-tooth ratchet for quick engagement, new optimised springs to minimalize freewheel friction, and a redesigned hub for aerodynamic performance and responsiveness
For safety, the Comete 50 has locked-in spoke heads, which secure the spoke heads and stabilize tension over time, but still remaining easy to maintain.
