Matrix Vulpine race team announced, with bikes supplied by Velocite, on the bike kit by Milltag, cash and training kit by Vulpine

Matrix Fitness, Velocite and Vulpine get behind women’s cycling

With a clear focus on the inaugural Women’s 2014 Tour, Velocite, Vulpine, Milltag and Matrix Fitness have collaborated to support the Matrix Vulpine racing team.

As in 2013, the team will ride Velocite Geos frames with the brand hinting at a few subtle changes set to be made to the already successful Geos platform.

Mark Almond from Velocite’s UK importers, VIP Bikes Ltd explains: “We are so happy to announce the details of our ongoing partnership with the Matrix Fitness team. Since our involvement with the team started in 2012 we have seen women’s cycling grow tremendously in the UK and Velocite are proud to be a part of this with Matrix Fitness.”

The team retains Mel Lowther, Jo Tindley, Harriet Owen, Jessie Walker and World Champion Corrine Hall in addition to new signings Dutch sprinter Sigrid Jochems, Scottish all-rounder Louise Borthwick, Para-Cyclist Lora Turnham (who together with pilot Corrine Hall is current World Champion in the tandem road time trial), Bethany Hayward and Penny Rowson.

Vulpine’s owner Nick Hussey said of his label’s title sponsorship: “I’ve always loved bike racing, and did a bit myself. I wasn’t terribly good, so the aim went from being in a top team, to dreaming of having my logo on the jersey of one as a headline sponsor. That long term dream is realised today as we become part of the something I am hugely proud of and excited about. We have grand ambitions on the road, and in the wider world of cycling. We believe in positivity and drive to achieve a better supported women’s cycling overall. That is why Matrix Vulpine is so perfect for us. It’s flipping brilliant! I’m ecstatic!

”Many will be a little taken aback that we’re sponsoring a racing team when we don’t produce pure racing apparel. But Vulpine is supportive of all cycling and we just love racing, just one of many facets of cycling culture. We will be providing off bike apparel to Matrix Vulpine riders in conjunction with Milltag’s racing kit. The riders will be provided with pure Vulpine merino wool base layers for racing and training. Milltag are friends of ours and we share a love of cutting edge design.”

Pre-orders for the new kit can now be placed via www.milltag.cc or vulpine.cc (until 5th January 2014) in both women’s and men’s specific sizing in two packages:

Fan Package (£80): A team rider spec jersey and limited edition team bidon from Bottlesport plus a TORQ team bidon. Special discount codes from other team partners including Vulpine and Velocite bikes.

Ultra Package (£250): All the above plus your own custom name on the jersey (not to be repeated again this season) and the full rider issue kit of bib shorts, gilet, arm and leg warmers.

The first 100 buyers will have their name featured on the team car.
