Over 55,000 cyclists have registered to take part in the inaugural Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 to be staged on August 4th, a legacy event from the London 2012 Olympic Games. An estimated 50,000 cyclists will be registered to take in Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle, a new closed road event designed to encourage new cyclists into the sport taking part in the centre of London on Saturday 3rd August. Both events are umbilically linked to the Prudential RideLondon Cycle Show to be staged at ExCel on 1st-3rd August. All 20,000 riders participating in the 100 mile sportive will have to pick up their timing chip and final instructions at the Cycle Show.
This linkage between expo and large sporting event is done for the Virgin London Marathon exhibition, and it’s the same team behind the new Cycle Show (clearly, no expense was spared on naming the show).
The Cycle Show claims it can "guarantee you at least 40,000 visitors over the three days and a chance to be part of the largest cycling show in the UK."
The Prudential RideLondon Surrey Classic will be broadcast live on the BBC.
The Cycle Show will be at Excel and occupy 7000m in North Halls 1 to 3, West Entrance.
The application process opens on 18th April.
