London-based app publisher Bappz has added a London Cycle Map to it’s London Tube Map app, showing TfL’s Cycle Superhighways and Quietways.
The London Tube Map app started life in 2009 as a simple ‘map only’ app and was the first free Tube map application for iPhone. It held the number one spot on the iTunes App Store Navigation chart in seventeen countries.
Bappz has been evolving the London Tube Map over the years with the addition of custom made maps, line status alerts, journey planner and a widget to let users know how the tube is running without opening the app.
The company commissioned a proprietary London Cycle Map to be integrated into the London Tube Map app. The Cycle Map screen also uses GPS to display the nearest point and distance to the cycle routes so that users can know close they are.
Londoner and Bappz’ founder Paul Myers said: “With summer coming and the arrival of dockless app administered cycle hire services like Ofo, Mobike and Urbo joining the established Santander Cycles scheme, London is becoming a genuine bike riders city. The real disruptive transit opportunities are now on two wheels. I say stuff Uber and get on your bike.”
London Tube Map is free on Apple App Store or from londontubemapp.com
