We are searching for new talent to join the Mapdec team. A team which prides itself on offering our customers a diverse range of cycling related services and as such we are focused and committed to building a team with a diverse skill set. The core of our business is our workshop services, and this is a primary role we must fulfil, however if you have skills or interests in the other parts of our business, such as bike fitting, fitness coaching, Suspension, or the YouTube channel we will want to use, and develop those skills or interests too. The most important things to us are that you are self-driven with a strong passion for cycling and continuous learning. You have a keen eye for detail, and perhaps an unhealthy obsession for striving for perfection and simply doing things better. If you are new to the trade, have these attributes, and fit with our team culture, we will train you. If you have a few year’s experience and are feeling under challenged and under appreciated, we want to hear from you. If you are an old hand and think you can make our business better, we want to hear from you too. We are not limiting ourselves in our search. We want to be as open minded to the potential talent and personalities that may present themselves. We are offering a salary between £24,000 and £32,000 per year. We suspect someone at the lower end of this might be fresh out of education with maybe a year or so mechanics experience, full of ideas and energy, but still needs some training. Someone at the higher end of this range would likely have a depth of experience and knowledge and would be a highly effective team member or leader from day 1. Here is our very short list of fundamental skills you must have. Know how to use tools, read instructions, identify faults, check safety and function. Speak to people face to face or on the telephone, compose an e-mail. Love bikes, cycling and everyone that rides. We are not concerned with qualifications, if we need to put you though training, we will. That said, we would like you to have skills that are close to Cytech or City & Guilds Level 2 as a minimum. To apply, get in touch. We appreciate that mechanics tend to be very practical people and the thought of writing a CV might even put you off even applying. So, tell us about yourself and why we should invite you to interview, however you like. Come and visit, Call us, send us a 1 pager on email, make a tiktok style video, or record a voice note. Whatever works best for you. Don’t delay we are waiting to hear from you. Your application needs to include: What you can contribute to the Mapdec team A summary of your mechanical skills Why you love bikes and cycling. A hint of personality Enough information for us to contact you. For the right candidate, we can help you relocate to Kendal (The gateway to the Lake District a perfect location for all types of cycling) It shouldn't be too difficult to figure out how to get in touch.
