We’re looking for a Shop Manager to join the team at Ace Bicycles in Guildford.

We’re an independent, high-end mountain bike shop with a busy workshop, a loyal customer base and a focus on quality bikes, components, kit and service.

We’re after someone who’s into mountain biking, knows their stuff and keeps up with what’s happening in the industry. Someone who gets stoked on the latest bikes and components, enjoys talking bikes with customers and knows how to help them make the right purchasing decisions.

You’ll work alongside the owner, helping run the shop, drive sales, support the team and look after our customers.

The role

• Driving sales across bikes, components, upgrades, accessories and workshop services.
• Helping customers choose the right bikes, components and upgrades for their riding.
• Using your product knowledge to confidently explain the differences and benefits of high-end products.
• Helping manage the day-to-day running of the shop alongside the owner.
• Keeping up with new products, technology and what’s happening in the MTB world.
• Supporting the sales and workshop teams and keeping things organised.
• Managing stock, ordering and supplier relationships.
• Keeping on top of workshop bookings and customer enquiries.
• Taking responsibility for the shop when the owner is away.

What we’re looking for

• Someone who’s genuinely into mountain biking, with strong knowledge of high-end bikes, suspension, drivetrains, components and the latest MTB tech.
• Proven sales experience and the confidence to sell premium products.
• Someone who can build relationships with customers, understand what they’re looking for and help them make the right decisions.
• A commercial mindset and the initiative to spot sales opportunities.
• Experience in retail or a customer-facing sales role. Experience in the bike industry would be an advantage.
• Someone organised, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility.
• A hands-on approach and the ability to work well with a small team.

Previous management experience would be an advantage, but isn’t essential. We’re more interested in finding someone with the right product knowledge, sales ability and confidence to take responsibility for the shop.

The details

This is a full-time role based at our Guildford shop. We’re open Tuesday to Saturday and closed Sundays and Mondays.

You’ll be working alongside the owner and a small, experienced team, playing an important part in both sales and the day-to-day running of the shop.
