Job Description
This role is not just simply not about running our Tredz Stores, at Swansea and Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape what the future of specialist cycling retail looks like us. At Tredz, we’re on a quest to make buying a bike as enjoyable as riding one and our stores are integral in bringing that vision to life. They are where customers get expert advice, discover their next bike, connect with leading cycling brands, and experience what makes Tredz different.
We are now looking for an exceptional Retail Strategy & Performance Manager to lead our physical touchpoints and help write the next chapter of our story of growth. You will take overall accountability for the performance and development of our stores, but your impact will go much further than day-to-day retail. We want someone who can look ahead, challenge how things are done today and turn ideas into a clear, commercially focused retail strategy.
The opportunity
This is a role for someone who wants to make their mark.
You will have the scope to shape our long-term retail strategy, develop our stores as part of the wider omnichannel customer journey and identify where we should invest to drive future growth. Whether that is evolving store concepts, improving performance, building stronger partnerships with the biggest names in cycling, or finding new ways for our stores to connect with local cycling communities, you will have the opportunity to influence what comes next. At the same time, you’ll lead and develop our Store Managers, creating a high-performing retail operation that delivers consistently for our customers, colleagues, and commercial partners.
What you will be here to do
- Shape and deliver our retail strategy, creating a clear vision for the future of the Tredz store estate.
- Drive commercial performance, using data and insight to unlock sales, profitability, and growth opportunities.
- Develop the retail estate, identifying opportunities for investment, refits, relocations, new concepts, and future expansion.
- Bring stores and digital closer together, helping create a genuinely connected omnichannel Tredz experience.
- Lead great retail leaders, coaching and developing Store Managers and building capability for the future.
- Raise the bar on customer experience, ensuring our stores remain destinations for expert advice, service and cycling inspiration.
- Build powerful industry partnerships, working with cycling brands and suppliers to create experiences and opportunities that benefit customers and drive commercial value.
- Put Tredz at the heart of cycling communities, creating partnerships, events and initiatives that build advocacy, acquisition and loyalty.
- Lead change, turning new ideas, technology, and better ways of working into tangible improvements across our stores.
Who are we looking for?
You will already have significant experience leading within a retail environment and a track record of turning strategy into measurable commercial results. You will understand the numbers, but you will also understand that great retail is about people, customers, and experience. You will be comfortable moving between the strategic and the operational, from developing an investment case or analysing retail performance to spending time in stores with managers and colleagues understanding what will make the biggest difference.
We think you will stand out if you can bring:
- Strong multi-site retail leadership experience.
- A proven record of improving commercial and operational performance.
- Experience developing and executing retail strategy.
- The ability to lead, coach and inspire managers.
- Strong commercial judgement and confidence using data to drive decisions.
- Experience leading meaningful change, transformation, or estate development.
- The ability to build credible relationships with brands, suppliers, and senior stakeholders.
- A genuine customer-first mindset.
Experience within cycling, sporting goods, outdoor, lifestyle or specialist retail would be a real advantage. And, of course, if you understand cycling customers, brands, and the wider industry, even better.
Why Tredz?
Because there is a real opportunity here to shape something. The cycling market continues to evolve; customer expectations are changing and the relationship between physical and digital retail has never been more important. We want our stores to be more than places that sell bikes. We want them to be destinations for cycling expertise, service, community, and inspiration, while delivering strong and sustainable commercial performance.
If you’re excited by the opportunity to lead great stores today while creating the retail proposition of tomorrow, we’d love to hear from you.
A great role deserves a great package. You will be offered a competitive salary, you will get a discretionary performance related pay, 33 days’ holiday, trade-price cycling discounts at Tredz, Halfords discounts, Health Cash Plan, 24/7 GP access, pension and Life Assurance, Share Save Scheme, Cycle to Work and a wide range of everyday discounts. You’ll also join a team that invests in development and genuinely cares about making great leaders at Tredz.Â
At Tredz, we believe cycling is for everyone and so is a great place to work. We are committed to building an inclusive team that reflects the diversity of our customers and communities. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, cultures, abilities, genders, and identities.
If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, just let us know — we’re here to support you every step of the way.
This is a multi-site role and regular travel between Tredz stores, partner locations and industry events will be required. A full UK driving licence is essential.
