Operations Lead

Based on Innerleithen’s High Street in the heart of the Tweed Valley, a major off road cycling destination, Tweed Valley Bikes offers a high-end one stop shopping experience serving all mountain biking needs through our shop and online presence. The ethos of our business is to provide high-quality products and exceptional service. We cater for everyone from new riders, to aspiring racers and seasoned enthusiasts, delivering everything from bike demos and sales, bike servicing and repairs to guided rides, skills courses and tailored coaching sessions. 

The business is growing at a fast-pace and we’re looking for a proactive Operations Lead with previous experience to work directly with the Managing Director to support the running of the business’ behind the scenes’ across in-store, online retail, workshop and trail-based activities. You’ll be responsible for stock management, business operations, online order fulfilment, after-sales and warranty as well as trail-based activity management. Your focus will be keeping our day-to-day systems running smoothly and efficiently, ensuring tasks don’t get bottlenecked and taking the lead on logistics across our team.

This is a new role, and it’s expected that it will evolve over time in line with the changing business needs. Whilst it’s not a significant part of the job, some shop floor cover will be expected, as such we’re looking for someone who has a keen interest in off-road cycling!

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong Organisation Skills & Self-Motivated: Able to take initiative, prioritise competing tasks and solving problems independently. Able to spot workflow bottle necks and resolve them.
• Operational Experience: Experienced in day-to-day administration, order processing, stock management, and handling logistics in a busy fast-paced environment (retail or outdoor industry experience is ideal).
• Technical Experience: Proficient with Google workspace (Docs, Sheets) and digital calendar/booking tools. Familiarity with Shopify, EPOS retail systems or booking platforms is a big plus.
• Communication Skills: Able to write and speak clearly, professionally and naturally, whether communicating with our trade suppliers, customers or our team.
• Attention to Detail: Take pride in your work and meet a high standard across everything we do.
• Team Player with a ‘Can-Do’ Approach: Flexible to adapt to changing priorities and support the varied needs of a growing small business. 
• Rider: Have an interest in off-road cycling and a basic understanding of bike components
• Full UK driving licence – driving company vehicles is required as part of this role.

Desirable Experience

• In-depth knowledge of mountain bike/gravel components
• Some understanding of bicycles mechanics and e-bike systems

Salary & Benefits 

Position Type: Full-time

Salary Range: £30,000 – £33,000 per annum (depending on experience)

The successful candidate will be entitled to 28 paid holiday days per year to start with (increases with long service) and will be enrolled into our workplace pension scheme.

Location and Working Hours 

Tweed Valley, Scottish Borders: You’ll be based between our office in Innerleithen, our retail space on Innerleithen’s high street, and our warehouse/storage facilities. 

This role is predominantly Monday – Friday, but occasional weekend work will be expected to cover events or staff holidays.
