Reporting to the Bike Shop Lead, you will have leadership, technical & retail responsibility within the Bike Shop, ensuring that your role supports the team and the Bike shop Lead with the day-to-day management, organisation and delegation of work. The primary responsibility is to manage the operation of the Community Bike Shop whilst performing retail and workshop activities including repairs & servicing, bike refurbishing & customer service in order to deliver Bike for Good’s role of providing new and second-hand parts, bikes and accessories and services. Developing & delivering quality standards & professionalism is a key priority and ensuring that Bike for Good’s commitment to delivering prompt and professional customer service is achieved at all time Key Responsibilities Operations: Manage all store operations, KPI and leadership of the team. Plan and prioritise workload to ensure a productive and efficient team. Supervise work, check the completion and deliver to organisational standards. Understand & comply with all EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) functions including task management, stock control and transaction processes. Understand all relevant operational procedures and set an example for others. Support with maintaining store environment and housekeeping standards. Oversee all Bike Shop activities including; Bike Refurbishing, Repairs and Servicing, Customer service, customer donations & warehouse activities. Work with Team Leader to create and control accurate budgets, focussing on factors affecting Gross Profit. Use workshop tools, machinery & assets safely and keep work areas safe and organised. Oversee the booking & communication process for services and repairs. Understand and actively engage with relevant Bike for Good digital communication & task management solutions such as Google Workspace: (Chat, Gmail), Trello and other Digital tools Controls: Oversee daily opening, closing & operating procedures and ensure team compliance at all times. Ensure compliance with Bike for Good brand standards on store set-up & presentation. Understand company policy and rules regarding Health & Safety measures and ensure compliance and controls. Oversee all till, financial & data protection controls, adhering to UK GDPR at all times. Manage all relevant HR admin tasks including recruitment, rotas, payroll, annual leave management, team performance & team development. Use workshop tools, machinery & assets safely and keep work areas safe and organised. Understand and manage compliance with Revolve Reuse standards at all times. Sales: Understand & demonstrate how to ensure an exceptional customer experience. Understand product & service features and benefits, upselling where appropriate. Understand and monitor merchandising guidelines to ensure effective product displays. Understand and deliver on KPI targets and expectations to achieve results. Advise and recommend products and services to suit customer needs and budgets. Analysis shop stock and ensure we always have a broad range of products for sale so the shop floor is always filled and varied. Provide line manager & coms lead all relevant information so sales can be driven via online & social portals. To prioritise sales and always be looking to drive sales revenue. Development: Understand the Bike for Good structure and initiatives. Identify & share challenges & opportunities to contribute to the wider business. Identifying and reacting to development needs within the team. Understand your own development needs and be driven to improve. Leadership & Teamwork: Understand your individual role and responsibilities and how they impact the team. Support and engage with the team and act as a role model. Person Specification Essential: Experience in leading a team within a retail and/or workshop environment. Experience in creating and controlling an operational budget. Understand how to correctly & efficiently refurbish, assemble and check all types of bikes, undertake repairs and all levels of service. Cytech Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) or a minimum of 3 years' experience as a bike mechanic in a professional setting. Understand & demonstrate exceptional customer experience. Excellent organisation and time management skills. Able to prioritise tasks effectively, meet deadlines and monitor outcomes. Able to carry out technical work to a high standard. Eagerness to analyse & solve problems, taking ownership to resolve them. To have a passion for cycling and inspire people to cycle. Enthusiastic and dynamic yet collaborative team player with a high degree of integrity and personal responsibility. Desirable: Experience with EPOS & workshop booking systems. Experience in the charity / Social Enterprise sector.
