We are now embarking on an exciting partnership with HMP Fosse Way, a new prison in Leicester opening in summer 2023. Here, we will run our “Bike Back” scheme: a prison-based bike mechanic training and bicycle refurbishment project. Life Cycle has been working with prisons for 12 years, winning many awards, including the Prison Reform Trust’s Robin Corbett Award for Prisoner Re-Integration.

We are now looking for two Bike Mechanic Tutors to help us continue delivering our life-changing work.   

Job Description

Looking for a bike mechanic role that makes a positive impact in people’s lives? Join our award-winning “Bike Back” project at HMP Fosse Way, and help us transform the lives of prisoners through professional bike refurbishment!

You’ll work as a team of two tutors to inspire, motivate and train prisoners in cycle mechanics, helping them earn a City & Guilds qualification. Teaching in small groups, you’ll build rapport with your students and gain fulfilment from seeing their progress. Our aim is to provide prisoners with the education, skills, and support they need to build a crime-free future.

This role is challenging but highly rewarding. And you’ll be supported by our experienced team every step of the way. You’ll receive training around working in prisons, and you’ll have the opportunity to qualify as a City & Guilds tutor. 

Whether you’re a seasoned bike mechanic looking to share your skills with others, or you have previous teaching or coaching experience, if you’re compassionate, open-minded, and keen to make an impact, we want to hear from you!
