Job Description:

We’re looking for a new mechanic to join the Paradise Cycles team.

Opening the doors in 2013, we’ve grown to become the most highly rated service and repair workshop in East London, backed by more than 800 5-star Google reviews. Now that the company is fully established in this part of the city, we’re still refining and developing our offering.

Supported by our incredible team, our goal for the coming years is to maintain and build upon our reputation for consistent, high-quality work and an excellent customer experience. A significant part of our past success is because we remain independently owned.

We take pride in the relaxed, friendly, accessible, and professional atmosphere that defines our ideology: Paradise is for everyone! Our mission is to ensure the business is a fun to work for and a welcoming place for every customer who walks through our door.

The workshop encounters a vast array of unique technical challenges daily, a variety that’s mirrored by the diversity of the customers we serve. Because of this, applicants are required to have prior experience as a professional mechanic working on a wide variety of bikes. While the existing team will provide on-the-job support and training to help you bridge any technical gaps, a strong foundation will ensure you settle into the role with ease.

We also value a genuine appreciation for cycling culture; it’s important to understand why our customers choose to ride in the city and why they trust Paradise over our local competitors. We recognise that the London cycling season can be busy and demanding, so a collaborative mindset and a keen eye for detail are essential for succeeding as part of our team.

If you feel you’d be a natural fit for our team and are looking to challenge your skills in a supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Duties:

  • Perform rapid, precise inspections & repair assessments.
  • Produce a couple of quote options for each bike, demonstrating to customers your flexibility, expertise & professionalism.
  • Carry out approved repairs & services to a consistent standard, so that as a minimum, every bike that leaves the shop is safe to ride, and the repairs carried out fulfil customer expectations.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues & customers, both in person, over the phone, and in writing on the shared workshop management system (HubTiger + Lightspeed) and occasionally by external email.
  • Accurately record and keep track of all inventory items used on worksheets.
  • Demonstrate good manual handling skills, as well a duty of care to all bikes within the workshop premises.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy workspace and contribute where possible to general shopkeeping.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a bicycle mechanic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English).
  • Willingness to learn on the job, and be open to new ways of tackling problems.
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Bonus: Wheel building & custom building experience. We build a lot of wheels in-house, and take on lots of custom build projects.
  • Extra Bonus:  Cytech / Brompton / Bosch / Shimano STEPS & Di2 trained.

Offer:

  • Full time employment contract with 40 to 45 paid hours per week available.
  • Salaries range from £28k to £36k subject to negotiation following probationary period.
  • Flexible & regular working hours available.
  • Private Medical Insurance inc. Dental & Optical cover
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Access to demo bikes, trade purchasing, and other industry perks.
  • Access to fully paid for industry training courses, such as Bosch & Shimano etc.
