Job description Job Description: Bicycle frame fabricator Job details The role profile is for the post of bicycle frame fabricator within Shand Cycles workshop in Livingston, reporting to the manufacturing operations manager. Shand Cycles are a designer and builder of hand crafted, bespoke, high end bicycles, with a customer base all over the world. An increase in orders and a move to larger premises, has resulted in this interesting opportunity to join our team. Job purpose Working under the direction of the head fabricator, carrying out a variety of processes in order to produce Tig welded steel bicycle frames to the highest of standards expected of our premium brand. The finished frames will be of a finished level ready to pass to our in-house paint-shop. Tasks will be varied and will include but are not limited to: allocation of raw tube stock to customer builds, manual & machine cutting of steel tube, milling of mitred tube joints, fit up of cut tubing into frame building jigs following CAD drawings, brazing of bosses and small frame parts onto frames. Main duties and responsibilities Assign raw tube stock to customer build boxes according to frame drawings Prepare, cut & mitre tubing using a variety of milling machines, lathe and hand tools ready for fitup on frame jigs Fettling of tubing joints to ensure tight tolerances are met Braze on additional frame parts-bridges, bosses etc to welded frames Carry out final quality control on finished frames to ensure it meets standards Maintain a clean and tidy work area, ensuring adherence to health & safety regulations Monitor stock levels of consumables, place orders directly with suppliers Manage time to efficiently build bicycles frames to priorities set by management Monitor and update customer order book as frames progress through the department Key relationships (internal and external) Work with head fabricator to complete work to agreed specification Maintain close working relationship with other team members, and quickly feed-back any fabrication issues which may impact the lead time or quality of finished frames Resources responsible for Fully welded bicycle frames & forks Workshop tools Fabrication area consumables Updating customer order book as frames progress Key outputs Fully welded & finished bicycle frames & forks ready for paint department Skills / knowledge Basic knowledge of bicycle frame construction Experienced using oxy-acetylene brazing equipment to produce a high standard of work A strong technical aptitude and proficiency with machine/hand tools Health & safety awareness in a workshop environment Ability to read and understand technical drawings and have a high attention to detail Good communication and team working skills-as a small team, it is vital that you are a team player and interact well with colleagues Friendly and approachable Positive proactive attitude Participation of cycling for pleasure of sport At Shand we work a 37.5hr week, Monday to Friday, with 1hr lunch break Work remotely No Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: From £27,000.00 per year Benefits: Additional leave Company pension Flexitime Free parking Store discount Relocation bursary available Schedule: Flexitime Monday to Friday How to apply: Please email your CV over to Brad.Howe@libertyhg.com
