Change at the top for troubled sports retail chain as Sir David Jones becomes executive chairman

JJB bolsters management

A new chief exec chairman has been appointed at retail chain JJB Sports. Sir David Jones stepped up to take the role at the end of last week having previously held the role of deputy chairman at JJB and chief executive at Next.

The new executive chairman will also be bringing in former Selfridges chief exec for a strategic review of the firm.

The JJB Sports management shake-up follows a difficult prolonged period for the retailer, which recorded a series of poor financials last year in May and December.

The move is hoped to renew confidence in the chain, with the respected Sir David Jones taking the reigns of the firm from Chris Ronnie.
