James Cracknell’s ‘Race Across America’ to appear on Discovery Channel

A documentary covering James Cracknell’s near fatal attempt to cross America by running, cycling, swimming and rowing is to appear this Thursday at 9pm on the Discovery Channel.

His target was to cross North America in just eighteen days to set a new endurance World Record. After running 80 miles across Death Valley, James continued riding his way along Route 66. In the early hours of July 20th James suffered a horrific accident when he was hit by a truck whilst riding on a freeway.

James used a Merida Scultura Evo Team, Time Warp Team and 0.Nine Mountain Bike on his Los angeles to New York adventure. Thankfully, he also wore an Alpina Pheos helmet, which according to him ‘bore the brunt’.

This week’s instalment of the series covering Cracknell’s journey focuses specifically on his North America attempt, the accident and his long way back to riding his bike.

The final programme of the trilogy which will focus on the 1st challenge James set himself after his recovery taking part in the Yukon Arctic Ultra a 430-mile long bike race in minus 50 degree conditions.
