ActSmart working with RatesRecovery

Is your bike business eligible for a business rate rebate?

ActSmart has partnered with a business rates appeal company – Rates Recovery – to help its members claim back overpaid rates.

Current business rates were set back in April 2010 and the Government has extended the current period by two years to 2017. The rateable value of a business property is based on postcode and size and is, ActSmart said, often a company’s third biggest outgoing after wages and rent.

According to the company, many businesses in the bike trade and beyond could have been paying too much.

RatesRecovery is one company that can help businesses with the task of appealing their rates and checking whether they are due a rebate. The firm uses Chartered Surveyors to check the business and ActSmart subscribers can get a free initial consultation and save 20 per cent on RatesRecovery’s standard fee (it offers a ‘no win, no fee’ system).
