California-set showcase to put e-bikes in front of US national media

Interbike organiser gears up for inaugural e-bike event

Interbike’s inaugural Electric Bike Media event takes place next week at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Taking place on Wednesday February 13th, the show will be supported by the likes of SRAM, Electra, Prodeco, Easy Motion USA, Pete’s Electric Bikes, Currie Technologies, Pedego, Solex and Serfas. Supporting sponsors include Bikes Belong, Bicycle Retailer & Industry News and the Light Electric Vehicle Association (LEVA).

Interbike organisers praised the support for the show’s debut, which will see journalists from trade publications, two of the top ten US daily newspapers and several of the top 20 US consumer mags focusing on health, tech, cycling, fashion and/or luxury products. The combined circulation of all the media attending is over 18 million readers.

“We as an industry need to do what we can to put more people on bikes, and Interbike is proud to help put a spotlight on the electric bike category,” said Pat Hus, Interbike MD. "We’ve got a fantastic lineup of media that committed to attend, and more than 50 dealers – both local and out-of-state – preregistered for the dealer demo portion of the event. For a first year event, we’re pleased with where we are right now.”

VP of Bikes Belong Bruno Maier and EVWorld.com editor Bill Moore will speak at the event. Maier plans to discuss electric bikes and their benefits, and how to get more people on bikes through advocacy and infrastructure. Moore will be the event keynote speaker, presenting the history and evolution of e-bikes, the different platforms being used today and opportunities for the category.

In the afternoon IBDs are welcome to attend too (after 2pm) to test product, meet exhibitors, etc. Interbike originally estimated 20 local retailers would attend, but with 50 dealers now signed up Hus expects the event may see around 75 dealers.
