Insurance-in-a-box launched by Evans Cycles

Cover is available for bicycles and accessories valued up to £4000. All policies cover theft, accident damage, accidental loss and fire. They also include an option to extend cover to Europe.

The policies also come with £1m public liability cover and £10 000 personal accident cover.

Claiming "we’re not out to make a fortune,", Evans’ head of sales, Scott Hargrave said:

“We’re all cyclists here, and there’s nothing more important to a rider than their beloved steed. We were looking into insurance for our own bikes, but the cover provided by household insurance policies and by other dedicated cycle insurers just didn’t tick all the boxes for us, so we decided to create our own."

The Evans policy is provided by IMR Insurance Ltd and is underwritten by E&L.

Insurance policies for bikes over £1000 will include the IMR Datatag security ID kit.

“We’re confident that we’ve got a good product,” said Hargrave.

“It’s very competitively priced, covers all the bases but most importantly it’s straight forward and easy to set up.

“There’s no selecting policies based on postcode or anything like that, our policies are banded according to the value of the bike and accessories. And there’s no need to wait for quotes or confirmation of any policy, cover is applied instantly once purchased, even when purchasing off the website.”

The insurance-in-a-box policies were launched from the Evans Cycles stand at Cycle 2004 at the weekend.
