Two years on from the Bicycle Association’s e-bike review, the BA is once again inviting the cycle industry to take part in an open meeting to discuss the emerging sector of e-bikes – or electrically assisted pedal cycles (EPACs).
Since the last meeting, the European market has continued to grow, with EPACs now accounting for the largest market segment by value in the Netherlands.
The EU is now finalising its regulations for EPACs, and in the UK the Department for Transport is formulating new regulations for the local market.
And there have been rapid developments in e-bike design too, particularly in battery technology, and there are some potentially interesting ideas within government and commercially for the promotion of the sector, the BA told Bikebiz.
The industry is invited to the E-bike Review 2012, to be held at the Quality Hotel, Coventry, on Tuesday November 27th from 11am until 1pm.
The meeting is open to members of the Bicycle Association, and to non-members (at a cost of £50 per head; to be refunded in full if a BA membership is taken out for 2013).
Bicycle Association executive director Philip Darnton said: "There will also be the opportunity to demonstrate/test-ride EPAC’s; if you wish to bring trial models, will you please advise in advance.
"While there will inevitably be some technical discussion, this is intended as a general review, so please do not limit your company’s representation.
"Space is limited, so please advise Pat Morris (office@ba-gb.com) as soon as possible if you plan to attend."
Coffee will be served from 10.30, and a buffet lunch will be provided.
