"We will be the first parties to use this route as it is the first trip to Brazil which Mencap have organised. Mencap have been contacted by the Brazilian embassy, who have heard about the trip and want to make the route we will be travelling into a National Cycle route for the Brazilian tourist industry," said Staples.
"I am looking forward to the challenge and will rise to it. At present I am training to get fit and raise money for the sponsorship of the event which amounts to £2,500. If there is anyone who would like to sponsor me if they could get in touch with the store, I’d be grateful."
