Hutchinson Expands Its Urban And City Range With New Republic Cargo Tyre

Hutchinson, the French tyre manufacturer with over 130 years of engineering expertise, has expanded its Urban and City range with the launch of the new Republic Cargo tyre. Designed to deliver unparalleled puncture resistance and support increased loads through its unique CrossGuard technology construction.

The Republic has long been a pillar of Hutchinson’s range and is now available in a dedicated cargo bike version, designed for riders looking to upgrade both traditional and electric cargo bikes.

Featuring a tread pattern that delivers grip from paved city streets to countryside lanes, the Republic Cargo achieves this through combining three variations of tread patterns ​ across its central and lateral section. This latest evolution of the Republic Cargo reflects Hutchinson’s commitment of providing reliable, performance-focused products to all cyclists.

CrossGuard Technology

Whether you’re carrying your family, the weekly shop or goods for your business, a puncture can create a logistical nightmare. With a roadside repair often not an option, reliability is essential, the Republic Cargo utilizes a polyamide puncture-protection belt and bead-to-bead gum wall, to provide active protection against sharp objects. Together, these developments have resulted in the Republic Cargo puncture resistance being up to 200 Newtons, 10% greater than competitors within the category.

In addition to durability reinforcements, new CrossGuard technology combines a series of innovations to deliver exceptional puncture protection and durability to create a tyre perfectly adapted to the requirements of bike transport, whether that’s loading up for business or the school run.

Built on a dual-ply casing (2 x 66 TPI) that provides a high density foundation, the Republic Cargo also contains an inverted cross-mesh structure that optimises stress distribution across the tyre. Beneath the tread, six crossed casing plies provide targeted reinforcement, enhancing strength at critical points allowing riders to travel with confidence.
