BikeBiz is calling on independent retail stores to help us gather research on the fortunes of the front line within the bike trade.
Our independent retail survey, which last year found that over 60 per cent of retailers take over £25,000 in clothing and accessory sales, among other things, is hoping to uncover further information about the independent’s main concerns.
Other findings from our 2010 survey include:
50% of those surveryed found grey import competition to be the greatest threat to their profits. Not far behind with 46%, suppliers selling out of key lines troubled retailers.
February was flagged up as the ideal time for a UK trade show, with 28.9% giving the month their vote. April through August scooped just 7% of the vote combined, indicating summer is a vital to retailers. Bit obvious that one.
Last year’s survey also asked about where Bike Hub contributions should be best spent. The results were overwhelmingly in favour of the development of cycle paths, as well as youth and adult cycle training.
