Happy birthday, Livestrong bands

On 17th May last year, BikeBiz.com first reported on the Livestrong yellow wristband campaign.

Since then the terms ‘Livestrong’, ‘wristband’ and ‘Lance Armstrong’ have been the top search terms typed in by site visitors. BikeBiz.com even gets phone calls from consumers, looking to purchase the bands (we pass them on to bike shops).

The Lance Armstrong Foundation was founded in 1997 and is located in Austin, Texas, Lance’s home-town.

Since 1997 the Foundation had raised $11.5 million. After a year’s worth of yellow band sales, and other promos, LAF has raised a further $50m.

The wristbands retail for $1 in the US, with LAF keeping 77 cents.

LAF funds educational and grant programmess for cancer survivors and research.
