Salt supplies rushed into stores in the north of England and Scotland

Halfords selling salt as snow grips UK

Halfords is to cash in on the cold snap by selling salt in the majority of its Scotland and northern UK-based branches.

The £6.99 bags of salt will be in stores as of today, each containing 10kg.The retail giant isn’t the only one to cash in on the winter weather, many on the BikeBiz forum have secured stocks of sledges in anticipation of high demand due to the ever-growing number of schools closing nationwide.

Halfords winter motoring expert Mark Dolphin said: “Motorists need to be prepared for sudden changes of weather and our new de-icing salt is a safe, convenient and cost effective way to keep paths and driveways clear.”

If your store has come up with an innovative way to make the most of the weather, tell us about it in the comments, or via the @BikeBizOnline Twitter.
