Following on from Halfords’ earlier announcement a disgruntled employee has told BikeBiz "people are being made redundant."
Our source, who wished to remain anonymous for fear of "being one of those cut" from the retail chain’s workforce, told BikeBiz:
"The majority of specialists are being made redundant, within BikeHut, as well as other areas of the store. The situation I’m now faced with is knowing that 17 jobs are available, which an existing 30 staff members will be going for.
"Being a non-specialist, I now have 30 days to wait to find out my fate. The way I understand it, each of those currently on the workforce will be assessed on a number of factors, with the most punctual and best performers most likely to keep their jobs."
Our source also confirmed that deputy manager roles would be wiped.
The cuts will affect stores nationwide, though numbers cut may vary store-to-store.
