Retail giant speaks out following redundancy rumours

Halfords confirms changes to store staff structure

Following speculation over redundancies across the retail chain, Halfords has released a statement to BikeBiz, announcing that many roles will be changing for bike staff across its stores.

The firm said that new roles are to be created with new career paths in store to provide greater advice and service for customers. The statement added that the new career paths are to be open to existing staff.

Halfords told BikeBiz: “Halfords is dedicated to providing the best possible value and service for our customers.

“Our research shows customers appreciate Halfords expert advice and service, and want more of it. So we are making some changes to ensure the right level of colleagues are available to help at peak times.

“We are creating a new role of Bikehut Sales Manager and will retain trained sales assistants to advise customers on the correct choice of bikes and accessories. These colleagues will build all new bikes and offer a full repair service.

“We have also designed a clear career path for in-store colleagues, that provides training and development programmes so they can progress within our business.”
