H2 fitness club has copious bike parking, personal 'cycling' trainers, a mechanic and more

Gym ‘for cyclists and runners’ opens in Central London

A new fitness club targetting primarily cyclists and runners has opened in the heart of London’s media and entertainment district, Soho. There’s even an on site mechanic to repair and prep member’s bikes for the ride ahead.

The H2 gym holds 230 secure bike parking spaces, large-scale generously equipped changing facilities and showers, particularly useful for those fitting in a workout before working hours.

You’ll not be confronted with armies of body builders upon entry either, this according to H2, is not the target audience. Though there are kettle bells, medicine balls and some other weight training equipment, the facilities are largely tailored to the cyclist or runner who deisres to increase their efficiency in competition, or simply feel fit and ready to undertake larger non-competitive rides or runs.

The women’s changing rooms are said to be fitted with hair straightners, among other things, so ladies can lose any signs of a workout prior to the working day. H2 has also said that membership will be closed once a certain capacity is reached, so as to not overcrowd facilities.

The Soho branch is said to be the first in what may expand to be a chain of similar branches. Work is already underway on a second at London Wall.

Membership begins at £19.99 a month for post 11am off-peak slots, while peak-time membership will cost £29.99. Heavy users of the Spin machines and classes can have unlimited access to the fleet of machines for £44.99 per month.
