Gusto Bikes, the Taiwanese bike brand on which Tadej Pogačar made his 2018 pro debut, is expanding its geographic footprint and its model lineup, with the business now introducing the all-new GTR to the UK market.

In keeping with a recent trend for more rider-friendly bikes that retain an aero aesthetic, we’re told the new GTR  is built around “a geometry that is higher in stack and shorter in reach, which aims to provide riders with a sustainable position suitable for long-distance cruising and climbing, reducing cycling stress, while maintaining agility for sprints”.

The GTR will be available in three build specs, and four colourways; Pearl White, Jet Black, Team Gold and Flux Orange (Limited Edition).

  • Shimano Dura Ace Di2 spec – £5299 RRP
  • Shimano Ultegra Di2 spec – £3849 RRP
  • Shimano 105 Di2 spec – £3049 RRP

The GTR features the “world’s first exclusive carbon fibre composite technology, implementing advanced U.S shock-absorbing material INNEGRA into frame production”, whilst carbon fibre itself is “Japan High Performance Carbon Fibre”.

  • UCI Approved Frameset
  • Frameset Lifetime Warranty
  • 32mm tyre clearance
  • UDH Derailleur Hanger
  • Integrated carbon fibre handlebar

Available across a six size range, from XS through XL, a quick look at the geometry chart shows a bike a little lower and longer than the Cannondale Synapse, and in between sizes on a similarly focused Basso SV.

Riders will want to be sure that they are well matched to the GTR, as the one-piece carbon bar and stem will make for a costly swap out should they need to adjust the cockpit to optimise fit.

Business model and retailer insights

Bikes are available at launch and are available for delivery from Gusto’s Slovenia factory direct to dealers.

UK Sales Manager, Dale Moore, tells BikeBiz, “The brand is very IBD focused, and will only deal B2B and will not be offering any B2C service. Moore adds, “Delivery from point of order from the dealer to their shop door is in the region of 10-14 days. All orders are assembled to order at our Slovenian HQ”.

As a brand that is relatively new to the UK market, Moore highlights that “Gusto is very social media driven with a huge chunk of the marketing budget going towards social media ads, not just in the UK, but across all of Gusto’s worldwide territories. Gusto also supports its dealers by sharing their Gusto-related posts and paying to boost these posts to capture a wider audience, which shows great dealer support.”
