Environmentalists call for investment to improve cycle links between city and business parks

Green Party: Cyclists forced to ‘dance with death’

According to this report in The Press and Journal, the Green Party has highlighted the need for major investment to create better cycle links between Inverness city centre and business and retail parks.

Eleanor Scott, a spokesperson for the party, said that cyclists are being forced to ‘dance with death’ when heading to Inverness Retail Park and Stoneyfield Business Park. Scott added that poor cycle links are putting off many would-be cyclists.

“Travelling to the retail park should not be a dance with death for cyclists. There should be a proper route.”

“Money needs to be spent that should have been spent in the first place. It is a ghastly ride at the moment and one that I don’t think many parents would allow their children on.

“Cycling and walking should not simply be treated as leisure pursuits but as ways of travelling between two places.”
