Giant sponsors MTB’s National Points Series

NRS, of course, stands for Giant’s No Resonance [suspension] System.

Co-sponsors include: Dirt Magazine, Fox, Gill, Bikehut, Hope, Impsport, MBUK and Scott USA.

The 2001 series was badly affected by foot-and-mouth disease, causing British Cycling to suffer heavy losses.

The dates and venues for the 2002 series are:

7th April XC1 Thetford Forest, Suffolk

21st April DH1 Combe Sydenham, Somerset

12th May XC2 TBC

26th May DH2 Innerliethen, Scottish Borders

9th June XC3 Aston Hill, Aylesbury

20th / 21st July National Championships DH and XC HoptonWoods, Ludlow

11th August XC4 Trentham Gardens

18th August DH3 Garford, Nr Monmouth

15th September DH4 TBC (Scotland)

The series is registered on the UCI calendar as an E2 event with UCI

ranking points awarded down to tenth place in Elite XC and to the top 10

fastest riders in DH. In 2002 for the first time ever the British

National Championships will be registered for the UCI calendar and again

UCI ranking points will be available.
