World’s largest bike manufacturer expects positive year

Giant predicts 10 per cent growth in ‘09

Taiwan-based bicycle manufacturer Giant is targeting 10 per cent growth in shipment this year, according to a report from Reuters.

Giant is also expecting to reach 10 million units across the globe after 2014 as bike production rises in China for the firm.

Giant President John Ho said: "China’s growth is driven by its domestic demand and we can see that potential market."

According to analysts, Giant is expected to record a net profit of approximately $69 million this year – a drop of eight per cent compared with last year.
